Is the free version really free?
Yes, genuinely. The MarkUp extension is free forever — all seven drawing tools, the callout and changelog system, clipboard export, and workspace file save. No account, no trial clock, no credit card. Pro is an add-on for people who want the MCP server; it doesn’t take anything away from Free.
What do I get with Pro?
The MarkUp MCP server: your AI agent — Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop — reads your latest annotations directly, so you skip the copy-paste. Pro also includes every new power feature we ship. It’s $6/mo or $149 one-time.
Monthly or lifetime — which should I pick?
Monthly ($6) is the low-commitment way to try Pro, and you can cancel anytime. Lifetime ($149) is a one-time payment that includes all future Pro features — it pays for itself in a couple of years. Same product either way.
What exactly is the MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI clients use to read external tools and data. MarkUp’s MCP server reads your workspace folder — the annotated screenshots and changelogs the extension saves — and hands them to your agent on request. Setup takes about two minutes; see the guide.
Can I use my license on more than one machine?
Yes. One license covers the extension and the MCP server, plus a spare activation — enough for your everyday setup. Need more seats? Email us.
